Guillermo Figueroa becomes the tenth Music Director in the sixty-nine year history of the Orchestra, which began as the Albuquerque Civic Symphony, became the Albuquerque Symphony, and was named the state's official orchestra as the New Mexico Symphony by Governor Jerry Apodaca in 1976. Mr. Figueroa's predecessors include:

  1. founding conductor Grace Thompson Edmister from 1932-1941;
  2. William Kunkel from 1941-1945;
  3. Kurt Frederick from 1945-1950;
  4. Hans Lange from 1950-1958;
  5. Maurice Bonney from 1958-1968;
  6. Jose Iturbi from 1968-1969;
  7. Yoshimi Takeda from 1970-1984;
  8. Neal Stulberg from 1985-1992; and
  9. David Lockington from 1994-1999.
